Kid Koala Presents: The Slew - 100%

Self Released, 2009

Canada’s turntable genius in residence, Kid Koala, is hitting the road this fall with Chris Ross and Myles Heskett, formerly of Wolfmother, to present The Slew, a one-time-only tour whose existence centers around the brilliant album 100%. Originally intended as a film soundtrack, 100% is the American heavy psychedelic sound resurrected in the Lazarus pit of fine DJing, with wholly renewed madness.

Rumor has it the album – made by Kid Koala and friend Dynomite D – is arranged from the master tapes of obscure Seattle psych rocker Jack Slew of the original The Slew, who were the subject of the documentary the two were scoring. Jack was a horse racing enthusiast and the word “slew” is a most likely a reference to Seattle Slew, a champion thoroughbred racehorse in the 70’s.
