Domino, 2010
On the sixth day, God created the creatures of the Earth. On the seventh day, He rested. And, on the eighth day, in a slightly whimsical mood, He decided to create The Fall.
God heard Mark E Smith ranting over a shambolic mix of rockabilly and Krautrock, and He saw that it was good – although He got a bit bored after a hundred or so albums.
Then, after fitting Mark E Smith with some false teeth, He heard this new album, and He did proclaim it ‘a return to form’.
He liked hearing Smith messing about on a Stylophone while grumbling about Murder, She Wrote, double glazing, rugby league and Spanish kings coming to Bury town centre.
The drums were loud and the synths sounded like something out of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and God decided that He was pleased. Amen.
